The Duwamish Transportation Management Association
An Alliance for Transportation
Poor signage. Lousy surface conditions on side streets. Spotty bus service. Speed traps on arterials. And, boy oh boy, how awful could it get if the Alaskan Way Viaduct falls down?
With transportation issues like these, the Duwamish business community needs all the help it can get. That is why a few years ago a group of local businesses partnered up to form the Duwamish Transportation Management Association (TMA).
The TMA is a non-profit group dedicated to improving transportation services in, to and through the Duwamish business community extending from the professional sports stadiums in the north to King County International Airport in the south.
The TMA achieves its goals through the following activities:
- Transportation Services. The TMA can help business owners and managers address individual transportation needs while serving as a community advocate for government projects, issues, and policies impacting the Duwamish business community. Some of the objectives are:
- Improve street signs
- More vanpools and rideshare service
- Duwamish area shuttle service
- Better truck routes
- Enhance Transit service
- More responsive government
- Freight Mobility. Transportation business and other firms can tackle freight issues large and small through the Seattle Freight Mobility Advisory Committee Sponsored by the TMA in partnership with the City, the Port of Seattle and the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Members of the TMA also participate in events where they get to know key government decision-makers on transportation. Give us a call to learn more or to get involved.
