The Manufacturing Industrial Council
The Manufacturing Industrial Council of Seattle was formed in 1998 by a small handful of volunteer members who shared a feisty outlook on the issue of preserving Seattle's industrial lands for industrial purposes. Today, the group includes about 60 members - some big, some small - all sharing a commitment to retaining and supporting the "family wage" job base of the city.
The MIC publishes a magazine, Seattle Industry, to fulfill it's on-going mission as an advocate for industrial employers. It sends out a monthly bulletin to keep it's members in the loop of what's happening. It also provides direct services to its members and the rest of the business community through the "Seattle First" business retention program. Its partner group, the Duwamish Transportation Management Association, focuses on transportation issues and can help employees use carpools, vanpools, buses and other alternatives to drive alone commuting.
Both the MIC and the TMA are proactively engaged with local, regional and state decision-makers to get the best outcome possible involving government policies and practices that impact industrial firms. The Seattle Freight Mobility Advisory Committee is cosponsored by the MIC, the TMA and the City of Seattle.
An Executive Committee governs and determines MIC positions on issues and meets the fourth Tuesday of the month, 3:30-5:30 PM in our Seattle offices.
MIC members are in the loop for all MIC communications and events. Members also get priority for services available through the MIC and it's different partners.
